John Shipman
John Shipman began his career in law enforcement in 2013 in Prairie Village, Kansas. During his tenure with the police department, he served on their tactical unit. In 2016, John transferred to the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department. At the time of his departure from Kansas City, he was assigned to the Tactical Response Team within the Special Operations Division. John was a sniper, explosive breacher, and entry team member. John also led the Firearms Training Cadre within the Tactical Response Teams. Part of John’s duties included teaching Active Shooter and Field Force Tactics to department members during yearly in-service training. John also worked on several additional projects, including a pistol-mounted optic transition within his unit.
John has attended countless hours of training from numerous nationally recognized sources and believes that learning is a never-ending process. John continues to attend training regularly to stay relevant and able to pass on the most current and validated information to his students. John also regularly competes in USPSA to maintain his skill and inform his practice.
John takes a pragmatic approach to firearms training and firmly believes that high-level shooting is merely the consistent application of fundamentals. John believes that those who carry a firearm as part of their profession or as responsibly armed citizens have a responsibility to maintain a high level of proficiency.
John holds a variety of Law Enforcement Instructor Certifications in addition to NRA Instructor Certifications.
